Woodside-operated North West Shelf project has reportedly halted the LNG and condensate loading operations as a result of bad weather conditions.
Citing sources familiar with the matter, Reuters reports that it is yet unknown when the loading operations would restart.
A Woodside spokesperson told LNG World News that the company is taking the necessary precautions to safeguard its people and assets, saying the company does not comment on the weather impacts on LNG cargo loadings.
The cargo loadings halt is, however, not expected to have an impact on LNG prices as this type of weather is not unusual for the start of the year in Australia.
LNG cargoes from the NWS project are loaded at the Karratha Gas Plant that includes five LNG processing trains totaling 16.9 mtpa of annual liquefied natural gas production capacity.
Besides Woodside, partners in the NWS project are BHP Billiton, BP, Chevron, Japan’s Mitsubishi Corp and Mitsui & Co, and Royal Dutch Shell.
