Spanish LNG terminal operator, Enagás, carried out alterations at the Cartagena LNG terminal increasing the loading flow rate at the facility.

The loading flow rate has been increased to 7,222 cubic meters per hour, which, according to Enagás, is the highest flow rate of all LNG facilities in Spain.

In addition to the flow rate increase, the operator has cut the amount of boil-off gas produced during loading operations as well as the operating times.

Enagás noted that the decrease in BOG and installation of network delivery compressors ensures gas is fully recovered, eliminating shrinkage, while fees payable per tanker have been lowered due to shorter operating times.

The company further noted that the improvements have driven down the total cost of tanker loading at the Cartagena LNG terminal.

The Cartagena LNG terminal has a storage capacity of 587,000 cubic meters of LNG and is capable of receiving carriers with the capacity to transport 266,000-cbm.
