Hiranandani Energy (H-Energy) has started the construction of a jetty for its FSRU project at the Jaigarh Port in Maharashtra on the West Coast of India.
H-Energy, a Hiranandani Group company, is looking to develop the FSRU-based LNG regasification terminal in two phases, with an initial handling capacity of 4 mtpa.
For this project, H-Energy has entered into a port concession agreement with JSW Jaigarh Port and has awarded the contract for the construction of LNG jetty to JSW Jaigarh Port, and received clearance to build the jetty in December last year.
Darshan Hiranandani , H-Energy’s CEO said the start of jetty construction works is the first milestone in the development of the project, adding that three bidders have been shortlisted for the FSRU charter contract.
Hiranandani said that commercial operations at the terminal are expected to start before December 2018.
Adding to the marine infrastructure, the project includes the construction of a 60-km long gas pipeline connecting the Jaigarh FSRU terminal to the existing natural gas pipeline network at Dabhol.
Under the agreement between H-Energy and JSW Jaigarh Port, the latter is entrusted with managing the construction of the jetty.
The port has awarded the jetty design job to L&T Infrastructure Engineering, while civil construction works have been awarded to ITD Cementation. H-Energy and JSW jointly appointed COWI India to supervise the job.
The initial project will consist of an FSRU based LNG re-gasification terminal with a capacity of 4 mtpa, which will ultimately be expanded to 8 mtpa.
