Two more foreign flagged ships were detained in UK ports during February 2017 after they failed Port State Control (PSC) inspection, the country’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) informed.
The ships in question are Hoegh St. Petersburg and Cemgulf.
The Norway-flagged large car and truck carrier (LCTC) Hoegh St. Petersburg was arrested at Tyne on February 16, after an inspection found three deficiencies with one ground for detention.
The second ship, Cemgulf, was detained at Ellesmere Port on February 15, after an inspection found six deficiencies with four grounds for detention. The general cargo vessel flies the flag of Cyprus.
Hoegh St. Petersburg and Cemgulf were released on February 17 and 24, respectively.
Six vessels remained arrested from previous months.
According to the MCA, a total of four ships remained under detention at the end of February. They include Malaviya Seven , Sea Trident, Southern Star and Cien Porciento.
