Following a rough landing on a Petrobras FPSO offshore Brazil, a helicopter from the Omni Taxi Aereo company has been removed from the platform in the Campos Basin’s Marlim field.
The helicopter, of an S76C model, crashed into the heliport of the Petrobras-operated P-37 FPSO last week. The aircraft was carrying two crew and eight passengers.
According to the state-owned oil company, the helicopter was removed from the heliport on Sunday, March 5.
The operation was authorized and accompanied by technicians of the Brazilian Aeronautical Accidents Investigation and Prevention Center (SERIPA) and the Omni Taxi, the company added.
Representative from Petrobras and the Sindipetro-NF union formed a commission to investigate the causes of the accident.
This was the third accident to happen recently on the same field, following a collision between a support vessel and a Petrobras-operated FPSO and an incident with a riser of the P-19 platform which was dropped and caused a leak of oil into the sea.
