MPI Offshore’s wind turbine installation vessel MPI Discovery has arrived at the 400MW Rampion offshore wind farm and is getting ready to start installing MHI Vestas turbines at the site.

The GBP 1.3 billion Rampion is being built 13km off the Sussex coast by E.ON, the UK Green Investment Bank plc and Canadian energy company Enbridge.

The wind farm will comprise 116 3.45MW MHI Vestas turbines.

MPI Discovery had already worked on the wind farm, installing the last of 116 foundations in tandem with Pacific Orca in November 2016.

The project is due to be completed and fully operational in 2018.
