Brazil’s state-owned energy giant Petrobras said its oil and gas production in February totaled 2.82 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boed).
This is a decrease of 1.4 percent from 2.86 million barrels of oil equivalent per day recorded in January.
According to Petrobras’ latest monthly report, 2.7 million boed was produced in Brazil with 113,000 boed produced abroad.
In February, production of natural gas in Brazil, excluding liquefied gas stood at 80.2 million cubic meters per day, 1 percent down on the previous month, mainly because of a scheduled stoppage on the FPSO Cidade de Paraty.
In February, oil and natural gas production managed by Petrobras in the pre-salt layer was 1.53 million boed, showing growth of 41 percent against the February 2016 figure. However, compared to January this year, this figure represents a 3 percent drop.
Natural gas production amounted to 8.4 million cubic meters per day, 3 percent down on the January 2017 figure. This was mainly due to operational stoppages in the Lucius and Hadrian South fields in the U.S. because of limitations in the distribution capacity of third-party facilities.
