The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has suspended the search operation for a 32-year-old passenger who went overboard from Carnival Liberty cruise ship ten miles northwest of Berry Islands, Bahamas.

Following a report that Reco Scott from Georgia went overboard from the ninth deck of the cruise ship in the morning hours of April 7, Carnival Liberty started the search operation and contacted USCG watchstanders.

The USCG deployed a helicopter, a cutter and an airplane to search for the missing passenger.

In addition, cruise ships Carnival Liberty and Norwegian Jade assisted with the search.

Crews searched for more than 29 hours covering 1,064 square miles, the USCG said.

Carnival Liberty departed Port Canaveral in Florida on April 6 and was en route to the Port of Nassau in the Bahamas, according to the ship’s AIS data.
