Lloyd’s Register (LR), a global engineering, technical and business services organization, has won an inspection contract with Bumi Armada for the Armada Olombendo FPSO.

The vessel was built by Keppel’s shipyard in Singapore and chartered to the Italian oil company Eni for work on the East Hub Development Project off Angola.

LR said on Tuesday it would provide Bumi Armada with access to the company’s risk-based inspection services and technical software which can develop quantifiable risk profiles.

According to the company, these profiles will provide insight for Bumi Armada’s management team on how best to approach short and long term capex and opex decisions.

Dirk-Jan Schuld , area manager of operations for Lloyd’s Register’s Asset Integrity Services, said: “We are delighted to be working with Bumi Armada on this initiative.

“The scope of work includes corrosion risk assessment and risk-based inspection expertise for the hull, topside structures, pipelines, turret, mooring system, pipework, and pressure safety valves. The work will be carried out from our Malaysia and Aberdeen offices over a period of six months.”

Karimulla Shaik , procurement coordinator – FPSO (OPS) at Bumi Armada, said: “It is important to us to continue on our journey to be the preferred provider of offshore production and support services which is why we chose Lloyd’s Register for this contract.”

Lloyd’s Register has worked on similar projects for Bumi Armada including the FPSO Kraken, and as an independent verification body during the design phase for the Armada Claire as well as on the Armada Olombendo.
