Descalzi gets new three-year term as Eni’s CEO

At the company’s annual meeting, Eni of Italy has named its board of directors for the new term of three financial years with Claudio Descalzi being named the company’s president and CEO.

At the company’s annual meeting, Eni of Italy has named its board of directors for the new term of three financial years with Claudio Descalzi being named the company’s president and CEO.

Emma Marcegaglia has been elected to chair the company’s board of directors that also includes Claudio Descalzi, Andrea Gemma, Pietro A. Guindani, Karina A. Litvack, Alessandro Lorenzi, Diva Moriani, Fabrizio Pagani and Domenico Trombone.

Descalzi who has taken the CEO position in May 2014, has been elected as president and CEO of the company for a new term that expires on the date of the shareholders meeting to be held in 2019, according to the company’s statement.

Descalzi joined Eni in 1981 as Oil & Gas field petroleum engineer and has since held numerous positions within the company. In 1994, he was named managing director of Eni’s Congo unit and served as executive vice president for Italy, Africa and the Middle East from 2002 to 2005.

In 2005, he was appointed deputy COO of the exploration & production division in Eni, and from 2008 to 2014 he was COO of the division of Eni. From 2010 to 2014 he held the position of chairman of Eni UK.

The board of directors also appointed the company’s control and risk committee, compensation committee, nomination committee and the sustainability and scenarios committee. Within the next few months, a new advisory board will be set up, Eni’s statement reads.
