Baltic countries have joined forces in establishing a Baltic Sea region LNG cluster and a Competence Centre in Vilnius, aiming to enhance international cooperation in the field of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The LNG cluster will include national parties from Lithuania, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany and Poland, a statement by the Klaipeda Science and Technology Park.
The parties intend to speed up the development of innovations, technologies and an infrastructure in the field of LNG in this region.
In addition, the group looks to rally the educational institutions through the LNG Competence Centre in order to improve teaching in the field of LNG and to grow a critical mass of LNG technology specialists, which is deemed essential for the development of the related technologies in the Baltic Sea region.
Agreements on these cooperation platforms will be signed during a conference in Vilnius to be held during this week.
