New Orleans-based Harvey Gulf International Marine has taken delivery of its fourth LNG-powered offshore supply vessel.
Built at Gulf Coast Shipyard Group in Mississippi, the Harvey Freedom is capable of carrying 253,000 USG of fuel oil, and 78,000 USG of LNG fuel.
The Harvey Freedom is 310 feet long and operates on three dual-fuel Wärtsilä engines.
In addition to being powered by “cleaner burning” natural gas, the vessel is “ENVIRO+, Green Passport” certified by ABS, making it and her sister ships, the “most environmental friendly” OSV’s in the Gulf of Mexico, Harvey Gulf said in a statement.
It will be based out of Port Fourchon, Louisiana and will immediately begin a five-year charter with a major oil and gas company, Harvey Gulf said without revealing the name of the company.
The vessel’s sister ships, the Harvey Liberty, Harvey Energy and Harvey Power, are all chartered by LNG giant Shell to support its deep-water operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
