Perth-based Liquefied Natural Gas Limited said its Magnolia LNG project received the notice from the United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to start initial site preparations in the Port of Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Commenting on the notice to proceed, Greg Vesey , managing director and CEO of LNG Limited, said that the FERC notice to proceed for initial site preparation is a key milestone for the project that underscores its position as ‘Shovel Ready’.
“Nevertheless, the pacing item for our Final Investment Decision (FID) and initiation of construction for Magnolia remains the finalization of our LNG offtake agreements, and our team remains fully engaged in advancing this activity,” Vesey said.
Magnolia LNG proposes to construct and operate up to four liquefaction production trains, each with a capacity of 2 mtpa or greater and the construction includes two 160,000-cbm LNG storage tanks, ship, barge, and truck loading facilities, and supporting infrastructure.
