The Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls Scheme will play host to a number of industry visits this spring/summer, starting with a delegation from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) later this month, reports Mackley.

A number of ICE Student Committee members are currently on secondment at Gatwick Airport and will visit the Shoreham site for a tour/presentation on 26 May.

Mackley also added that a few weeks later, following a successful visit in November 2016, members of RICS South East will return to the site on 13 July to to see how the project is moving forward.

A number of local schools will also make educational trips to Shoreham over the coming months – starting with pupils from the Glebe Primary School in Southwick, West Sussex on 16 May.

The Shoreham Adur Tidal Walls scheme is being carried out by Mackley, working as part of Team Van Oord and on behalf of the Environment Agency, Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership, Adur District Council and West Sussex County Council.

Once completed, the project will significantly reduce flood risk to over 2,300 properties in Shoreham and East Lancing, as well as protecting important local infrastructure such as the road network, railway line, and Shoreham Airport.
