Norwegian oil company Statoil will use Bideford Dolphin drilling rig for yet another well on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

According to a Friday Oslo Stock Exchange filing by Fred. Olsen Energy, a parent company of Dolphin Drilling which operates the rig, Statoil has exercised an option for the additional well with the semi-submersible drilling unit Bideford Dolphin.

The well will be in direct continuation with the upcoming well, which was agreed back in April and is estimated to start in late May.

The contract value for the extension is approximately $17.2 million for an estimated drilling campaign of 100 days.

Bideford Dolphin is an enhanced Aker H-3 design semi-submersible drilling rig. It was built in 1975 in Norway.
