After a long idle period, Maersk Drilling-owned jack-up drilling rig Maersk Resolute has left the Port of Esbjerg in Denmark heading to its offshore location.
The port informed of the rig’s departure through its social media channels on Friday. The 2008-built jack-up, which left the port on Thursday night, is now on its way to the Dutch sector of the North Sea where it will work for Petrogas E&P Netherlands B.V. under a contract awarded in January this year.
This contract award meant return to operations for the previously warm-stacked Maersk rig, which arrived at the port in May 2016.
The owner of the rig said back in January that under the firm contract with Petrogas the rig would drill two wells, A8 and A9, in the A12 block of the Dutch continental shelf.
This was estimated to last for about 75 days with an option to extend the contract for up to 5 additional wells.
