With the improved weather conditions, all three dredges returned to the Town of Duck Friday, June 9, to continue the beach nourishment operations.
According to the town report, the northern section near Carrol Dr. is open to the public. There is still equipment on the beach with signage asking to stay clear. Currently, there are pipes still on the beach with sand ramps maintained for water access.
Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD) dredges, Dodge and Padre Islands have begun working at the Dianne St. subline where they continue to construct the pad.
As the pad is constructed, the equipment on the beach from Carroll Dr. will be moved to that site. The construction zone here extends approximately the middle of Quarterdeck Dr. to Old Squaw Dr.
The Liberty Island dredge construction zone has shifted south and now extends approximately between 169 Bufflehead and 123 Spindrift.
There will be a public meeting this Wednesday, June 14 at 1:00 p.m. in the Paul F. Keller Meeing Hall. Coastal Planning & Engineering and GLDD will present an update on the beach nourishment project.
