A public meeting was held yesterday, June 14, in the Paul F. Keller Meeting Hall where Coastal Planning and Engineering and Great Lakes Dredge and Dock (GLDD) presented an update on the Town of Duck Beach Nourishment project.
During the meeting, Julien Devisse, with Coastal Planning and Engineering, presented on the progress to date, as well as a tentative schedule.
According to the town, the Dodge and Padre Island dredges are currently finishing up working south from the Ocean Bay Blvd subline.
GLDD anticipates that they should be completed by tomorrow. They will then resume work at the Dianne St. subline and pump north to meet the completed beach.
At this time, the active construction zone for this area is between approximately Sea Tern Dr. and Carroll Dr.
The third dredge, the Liberty Island dredge has approximately 500 feet of beach left to complete to the southern boundary.
It is anticipated that this will be completed by this coming weekend and then return to Widgeon St. to work north until subline in Kill Devil Hills is ready to begin work.
Currently, the active construction zone is approximately Spyglass Rd and Spindrift Ln.
