The Norwegian offshore safety body, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has found two improvement points during an audit of the COSLPromoter semi-submersible drilling rig.
The PSA said on Wednesday that the audit was conducted on June 7 and 8 and that it focused on the management of integrity in structures and marine systems.
According to the safety regulator, the purpose of the audit was to confirm that the COSLPromoter had good systems for verifying structures and marine systems, specifically in respect of the scope of inspections, methodology, and assessment of inspection results.
There were no regulatory non-conformities found during the audit. However, the PSA identified two improvement points concerning the verification of watertight valves in the ventilation plant and the closing time performance requirements for shutting watertight doors by hand pump.
As far as the rig is concerned, the COSLPromoter is a semi-submersible designed to operate in water depths up to 750 meters. The unit is made for harsh environments like the North and Norwegian seas. The rig is of GM4000 design built at Yantai Raffles Shipyard, China.
The agency told COSL to report on how the improvements point will be assessed by July 15, 2017, at the latest.
The last time the rig was under the scope of the PSA was in late April . Similar to this audit, only an improvement point was found while no non-conformities were identified.
