Denmark’s Port of Esbjerg on Monday shared a photo on its social media channels showing the Maersk Drilling-owned jack-up rig Maersk Resolve leaving the port.
The port said that the rig left this past weekend after an idle period and warm stacking, heading for the Winchelsea II well in UK sector of the North Sea to work for Wintershall Noordzee.
To recall, Maersk Drilling won the contract from Wintershall at the end of June. According to the terms of the deal, the contract is for one well and will last for approximately 86 days, with further options included.
Maersk Resolve left the port for the first time after arriving for warm-stacking last December . Port of Esbjerg became a port of choice for inactive Maersk Drilling rigs after the two signed a rig positioning framework agreement back in May 2016.
Maersk Resolve is a jack-up built in 2009 and designed for year-round operation in harsh environments and in water depths of up to 350ft. The rig is HPHT capable and prepared for Managed Pressure Drilling technology.
