Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller and Wang Yilin, chairman of the board of directors of CNPC signed a supplementary agreement to the SPA for Russian gas deliveries to China via the eastern route.
The initial 30-year deal was signed in May 2014, under which Gazprom will deliver 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline.
According to the supplementary agreement, gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline will commence in December 2019.
“The signing of this document is a crucial step in the implementation of the project,” said Miller, adding that the work is on schedule and that gas supplies to China will come “right on time.”
In addition to the Power of Siberia project, the two companies have agreed to cooperate on underground gas storage and gas-fired power generation in China as well as the natural gas vehicles sector.
