Teekay has held a triple naming ceremony for its new shuttle tankers at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in South Korea.
Beothuk Spirit, Norse Spirit and Dorset Spirit were officially christened and named on August 25.
Once delivered, the shuttle tankers will be operating at Hibernia, Terra Nova, White Rose and Hebron offshore oil fields located in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador.
The 154,000 dwt newbuildings will fly the flag of the Bahamas.
Teekay earlier said that the ships will replace two in-charters and one owned vessel currently servicing this 15-year, plus extension options, contract with a consortium of 9 oil companies.
