The U.S. Army Corps Engineers, Philadelphia District, recently awarded a $2.2 million dredging contract to Jade Creek Construction, LLC.

According to the Corps, work will involve dredging the Basin, within USACE’s property limit, in Chesapeake City, Md. to a depth of 10 feet.

“ Additional work will occur east of the Basin in the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal. This will encompass a 10,000 linear foot stretch dredged to a depth of 35 feet ,” reported the Corps.

The project schedule is not yet available but is expected to be released once USACE and Jade Creek Construction finalize plans.

The scheme represents the culmination of a long term effort between the Army Corps of Engineers and the Maryland Department of the Environment.
