GTT, the French maker of LNG containment systems, has secured a services contract for membrane cargo containment tanks on board Shell’s giant Prelude FLNG located offshore Western Australia.

This contract will provide support for the engineering, inspection, maintenance as well as testing of the containment system, according to a GTT statement.

GTT did not reveal the value of the deal.

The Prelude facility arrived at its location, the Prelude field, 475km North East of Broome from South Korea late July.

Prelude FLNG was secured with sixteen mooring lines in August. The facility is currently undergoing hook-up and commissioning phase which is expected to take between 9-12 months.

Once fully commissioned, the FLNG facility is expected to be able to produce 3.6 million tons per annum (mtpa) of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate and 0.4 mtpa of LPG.

Prelude FLNG has a liquefied gas storage capacity of 326,000-cbm. It has 10 tanks, 6 for LNG and 4 dedicated to LPG, each equipped with the membrane containment system Mark III developed by GTT.

“We are very proud to continue to work with Shell on the Prelude FLNG project, building on the portfolio of innovative services we have developed. This contract is somewhat of a landmark for GTT,” said Philippe Berterottière , Chairman and CEO of GTT.
