The Norwegian offshore safety body, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA), has found eight non-conformities and two improvement points during an audit of the COSLPromoter drilling rig.
This is the third audit of the COSLPromoter in 2017. The two previous audits by the PSA, in April and June , did not find any non-conformities. Only three improvement points were found in total.
The PSA said on Friday that the latest audit was conducted from September 4 to 7 took a look at the management by COSL Drilling Europe (COSL) of emergency preparedness, the working environment, and employee participation on the rig, as well as follow-ups from previous verifications and audits.
The audit revealed non-conformities in connection with the system for training the emergency preparedness organization offshore, lifeboats, use of MOB suits, and the maintenance of emergency preparedness equipment.
The other four non-conformities were related to mapping and risk assessments within the working environment, verification of measures and closure of non-conformities, working environment competence among managerial personnel, and working environment committee (AMU).
The two identified improvement points were in regards to marking of escape routes in outdoor areas, securing of inventory in accommodation quarters.
COSL was given a deadline of November 17 to report on how the non-conformities and improvement points would be addressed.
As far as the rig is concerned, the COSLPromoter is a semi-submersible designed to operate in water depths up to 750 meters. The unit is made for harsh environments like the North and Norwegian seas. The rig is of GM4000 design built at Yantai Raffles Shipyard, China.
