Last week, FSUE “Rosmorport” announced that the company has obtained a permit to put an artificially created plot of land in the seaport of Sabetta into operation.

The reclamation project, which has created approx. 14.75 hectares of new land, was performed under the “ Seaport Facilities Construction in Sabetta Settlement on Yamal Peninsula and Approach Canal Creation in the Gulf of Ob ”.

According to Rosmorport, the Sabetta port is designed for servicing the South-Tambey gas condensate deposit, unloading and transportation of liquefied natural gas and gas condensate from Yamal Peninsula.

This project will facilitate the social and economic development of northern territories and the strengthening of Russia’s role in the Arctic region. Its implementation will help to increase production of liquefied natural gas in the country by 2.5 times, from 10 million tons per year to 30 million tons per year, reported the Rosmorport.

FSUE “Rosmorport” acts as a developer of federal ownership facilities of the seaport of Sabetta – seaway and approach canals, the water area of the seaport, ice protection structures and coastal buildings, as well as facilities of the vessel tracking management system and aids to navigation.
