Mubadala Petroleum has completed two wells at the Manora-6 prospect in the G1/48 concession in the Gulf of Thailand.

According to Tap Oil, a partner in the project, the interpretation of the logging while drilling data indicated an oil column in the primary reservoir section of approximately 5.8 meters, below a depth of 2,229 meters TVDSS.

The drilling of the Manora-6 well, located 2.3km northeast from Manora oil field in the Gulf of Thailand, reached total depth at 2,412 meters true vertical depth sub-sea (TVDSS) while targeting the L fault block prospect.

“The result was encouraging enough for the joint venture to proceed with a side-track to the well, Manora-6ST, to test the M prospect,” Tap Oil said.

The Manora-6ST well, located 2.9km northeast from Manora oil field, was drilled to a depth of 2,387 meters TVDSS. Interpretation of the logging while drilling data shows approximately 5.8 meters of oil in three separate reservoir sandstones, below a depth of 2,214 meters TVDSS, each of which exhibited evidence of an oil-water contact.

Tap is working with the operator who continues to evaluate the results, and these will be incorporated into the partners’ understanding of the Manora field production contract area and its upside potential.

The company also added that the Ensco 115 drilling rig, used to drill the two wells, had moved off location.
