Pakistan GasPort said the operations at the country’s second liquefied natural gas import (LNG) terminal will continue on Friday, following a halt due to infrastructure failure.
The company said in a statement that an insulation joint connecting the company’s system to the pipeline infrastructure developed a leak.
“The leak was promptly stopped, the joint has been replaced, and the system is being purged and re-pressurized,” Pakistan GasPort said in a statement.
The company also noted that there were no faults with the jetty and marine works, the BW’s FSRU BW Integrity or the subsea section of the pipeline. The company also declined media reports that a blast happened at the facility.
The terminal that will at peak regasify and deliver 750 million standard cubic feet of natural gas per day to the transmission system has been inaugurated on November 20.
Pakistan GasPort noted that the first cargo arrived at the terminal four days after the inauguration, on November 24.
