A unit of Singapore’s Keppel Offshore & Marine has secured a contract to work on Eni’s Coral South floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility to be located offshore Mozambique.
Keppel Shipyard won a contract from mooring specialist SOFEC for the fabrication of a turret mooring system for the newbuild FLNG vessel bound for the Coral South project, Keppel Offshore & Marine said on Monday.
Fabrication is scheduled to commence in the first quarter next with delivery of the turret components expected in the first quarter of 2020, according to Keppel.
Besides this contract, Keppel has secured hull carry over work from Brazil’s Petrobras for the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit P-69.
The combined value of the two contracts is around S$130 million ($96.2m).
Worth mentioning, Italy’s Eni announced last week it closed $4.7 billion financing for its Coral South FLNG project.
Coral South FLNG was sanctioned earlier this year by the Area 4 partners for the development of the considerable gas resources discovered in the Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique.
The project targets the production and monetization of the gas contained in the southern part of the Coral gas reservoir, by means of a floating LNG plant with a capacity of 3.4 mtpa.
Eni is the operator of Area 4, holding a 50 percent indirect interest through its participation in Eni East Africa (EEA).
The remaining interests in Area 4 are held by CNODC (20 percent), Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos E.P. (ENH, 10 percent), Kogas (10 percent) and Galp Energia (10 percent).
