Kuwait Petroleum Corp. has inked a liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal with Shell as it looks to meet the rising demand for power generation.

The deal signed with Shell International Trading Middle East will start in 2020, Kuwait News Agency reports.

Under the contract, the Shell unit will reportedly deliver some 2 to 3 million metric tons of LNG a year, over a period of 15 years, although neither Shell or KPC disclosed the amount of LNG to be delivered.

The volumes delivered under the contract will be used to fire up KPC’s power stations.
