Norwegian oil company Statoil has exercised its second option in the Deepsea Bergen’s drilling contract.
Owned by Odfjell Drilling, the semi-submersible drilling rig Deepsea Bergen was awarded a contract by Statoil, which included one firm well plus 4 x 3 optional wells, back in May 2017. The contract was valued up to $55 million.
In December 2017 Statoil exercised its first option in the rig’s drilling contract, adjusted to two firm wells with an estimated duration of 75 days.
On Monday, January 22 Odfjell Drilling informed that Statoil had exercised the second of four options.
According to the rig owner, the option is for three wells with an estimated duration of 75 days. Option two will follow back to back with option one.
Deepsea Bergen is a 3rd generation semi-submersible drilling rig of an Aker H-3.2 design.
