The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, hosted a three day workshop on the importance of the Sabine-Neches Waterway Project from January 9-12, 2018.
During the event, Jake Walsdorf, a Galveston District Value Engineering Officer and Architecture Engineering Contract Coordinator, introduced the value engineering study on Sabine-Neches Waterway FY18 O&M project.
The study analyzed cost efficient and effective alternatives for project dredging.
Ten team members consisting of Corps employees, private engineers and a contractor’s representative participated at the meeting.
A final presentation was introduced on January 12 to senior leaders, USACE said in its announcement.
The Sabine–Neches Waterway, located in southeast Texas and Calcasieu Parish, includes parts of the Neches River, Sabine River, Sabine Lake, and Taylor Bayou.
The waterway ranks as third-busiest waterway in the U.S. in terms of cargo tonnage, according to the American Association of Port Authorities.
