Lukoil boosts oil output from V. Filanovsky field with new well

Russia’s Lukoil has increased its daily oil production at the Vladimir Filanovsky field in the Caspian Sea, following completion of the construction and commissioning of the first production well as part of the Phase 2 of development.

Lukoil said on Wednesday that the well was a production single bore horizontal well with a measured depth of 3.5 kilometers.

According to the company, the horizontal section of the well is 1.2 kilometers. The initial well flow reached 2.4 thousand tonnes of oil per day. As a result, the daily oil production at the field increased to 16.8 thousand tonnes.

Also, Lukoil started drilling an injection well at the field. Further execution of the drilling program at Phase 2 of the field’s development will allow stabilizing production at the designed plateau of 6 million tonnes on an annual basis.

To remind, Lukoil started drilling the Phase 2 well at in early December .

As for the Vladimir Filanovsky field, it is considered the largest post-Soviet discovery in Russia. Commercial operation of the field, with C1+C2 reserves, equals 129 million tonnes of oil and 30 billion cubic meters of gas.

The field is located in the northern Caspian Sea, 220 km away from the city of Astrakhan. Water depth in the field’s area ranges from seven to 11 meters.

The field is being developed in the three phases. Phase 1 facilities were commissioned in 2016 and included a fixed ice-resistant platform, an accommodation block platform, a riser block and a central processing platform. Eight wells were drilled at Phase 1, six of them are production and two injection wells.

Phase 2 facilities include a fixed ice-resistant platform and an accommodation block platform. The construction of the wellhead platform, field’s Phase 3 development, started in 2017.
