Maersk Supply Service has shared an image of Maersk Inventor, the third Stingray-class subsea support vessel (SSV) which will soon become part of the company’s on-the-water fleet.
The 9,800 dwt ship was recently launched at China’s COSCO Dalian shipyard. It is currently conducting sea trials, VesselsValue’s data shows.
Flying the flag of Danish International Register, the newbuilding features a length of 137.6 meters and a width of 27 meters.
The company ordered a series of four Stingray vessels in 2014. Designed together with Marin Teknikk, the ships are built as a platform to carry out deep and shallow water operations.
With an energy efficient propulsion set-up, these DP 3 vessels feature a 400-ton active heave compensated (AHC) crane and two work class remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) capable of operating in a water depth of up to 3,000 meters.
Maersk Installer , the first of four ships, was handed over to the company in October 2017 and Maersk Involver a month later.
The remaining vessel from the batch is expected to be delivered later this year, according to the company’s data.
