Tecnalia and BiMEP have signed a collaboration agreement for the provision of advanced solutions to accelerate the deployment of offshore renewable energy and to position the Basque Country, Spain, as a development hub for these technologies.

According to Tecnalia, one of the main ways to achieve this objective is the standardization and certification of tests for floating wind turbines, wave energy converters and other related technologies.

Therefore, the two parties will launch an R&D program in this field, based on a joint positioning in national and international fora.

Since the early exploration phase of the open-sea test facility for offshore renewable energy prototypes, BiMEP and Tecnalia have been closely involved in its implementation, Tecnalia said, adding that they have jointly progressed in the development of their own capabilities and have collaborated in several R&D initiatives.
