Boskalis’s new self-propelled DP2 crane vessel, the Bokalift 1, is currently preparing for the installation of foundations at the East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm in the UK, a spokesperson from the company confirmed to Offshore WIND.
The new vessel, which is a result of a conversion of the former Finesse type II heavy transport vessel, was put into service in February.
The Bokalift 1 features a dynamic positioning (DP2) system, accommodation for up to 150 people, and a rotating mast crane with a lifting capacity of 3,000 tonnes. The conversion was largely completed in 2017, with the outfitting of DP2 and additional accommodation done in Singapore and the 3,000-tonne rotating mast crane installed in China.
The vessel’s AIS data shows the Bokalift 1 is currently in the port of Vlissingen, the Netherlands, the marshalling port for foundation operations for East Anglia ONE.
So far, the installation of East Anglia ONE’s jacket foundations was only attributed to Seajacks and Van Oord , who signed contracts for the works in January 2017, with Seajacks in charge of installing the jackets with its vessel Seajacks Scylla and Van Oord being in charge of logistics and the transport to the marshalling port of Vlissingen.
In September 2017, Lamprell awarded Dockwise , a wholly-owned subsidiary of Boskalis, with a contract to transport 36 East Anglia ONE jacket foundations from Jebel Ali, the United Arab Emirates, to Vlissingen.
For the 102-turbine offshore wind farm, 60 jacket foundations and pinpiles are being produced by Lamprell from its Jebel Ali and Sharjah yards in the UAE, while Spain’s Navantia and Windar are delivering 42 jackets and their accompanying pinpiles.
