Polish gas grid and LNG terminal operator Gaz-System has signed a cooperation agreement with Delfin LNG, the first and only permitted floating LNG export project in the United States.
According to a brief social media statement by the US Embassy in Poland, the deal was signed during the Polish natural gas delegation’s visit to the United States during the week.
As part of the delegation led by the Polish secretary of state Piotr Naimski, Gaz-System will also hold discussions with over 20 U.S. companies and visit liquefied natural gas ports in Houston, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida.
In June last year, Delfin LNG joined forces with LNG shipper Golar to jointly develop the FLNG project.
The project includes up to four floating liquefaction vessels capable of producing up to 13 million tons of LNG per year.
A final investment decision for the first FLNG is expected in 2018, with the first production from the project planned for 2021 or 2022.
Gaz-System operates Poland’s first LNG terminal in Świnoujście through its unit Polskie LNG. The company is looking to expand the facility by boosting regasification capacities from 5 bcm to 7.5 bcm of natural gas annually, building the second LNG jetty as well as adding LNG bunkering infrastructure.
