Norwegian oil major Statoil has completed preparations for the installation of the subsea template for the Snefrid Nord gas field located in the Norwegian Sea.
Statoil said on Monday via social media that the subsea template was ready for installation just one year after the development got the green light by the company.
The Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy approved the development of Snefrid Nord gas discovery near the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea back in October 2017 .
Snefrid Nord was discovered in 2015 about 12 kilometers north from the Aasta Hansteen field. Recoverable reserves are estimated at about five billion cubic meters of gas. The development concept includes one well in a single-slot subsea template.
This will be tied back to the Aasta Hansteen spar platform, which arrived at its offshore location at the end of April, through the Luva template six kilometers away. Snefrid Nord will produce some four million cubic meters of gas per day in the plateau phase, the planned productive life being 5-6 years.
The field is located about 300 km from the mainland on more than 1,300 meters of sea depth.
According to Statoil’s announcement from Monday, production from the Snefrid Nord field will start in 2019.
Aker Solutions was put in charge of delivering the single-slot subsea template, a suction anchor, and umbilicals for the Snefrid Nord development and Subsea 7 for delivering flowlines and spools in addition to performing all subsea installations.
Statoil is the operator of the field with an interest of 51 percent. The partners are Wintershall Norge (24%), OMV Norge (15%), and ConocoPhillips Skandinavia (10%).
