Denmark-based vessel owner KEM Offshore has won two contracts to provide its crew transfer vessels (CTVs) for Ørsted’s and Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms.
The KEM 2 CTV has already begun performing inspection services on a number of Ørsted’s offshore wind farms in the Irish Sea and the UK and German North Sea, and is expected to finish its duties by the end of 2018.
In addition, the company’s KEM 1 vessel secured a three-year contract for O&M work on Vattenfall’s Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in Denmark starting this summer.
According to KEM Offshore, both contracts required the conversion of the two 28-meter-long CTVs from 12 to 24 pax capacity, which was carried out earlier this year.
“As the turbines are getting bigger, we see a significant increase in market demand for 24 pax CTVs so the decision to increase the capacity of our vessels was easy and we are of course proud and excited that the two largest utility companies in the market have rewarded this decision with contracts,” said Brian Schlosser , Business Development Manager at KEM Offshore.
In 2017, KEM Offshore secured two contracts for Vattenfall’s offshore wind farms in Denmark, with the first including the provision of CTVs for the Horns Rev 1 offshore wind farm, followed by a framework agreement to provide the vessels for installation and commissioning of two offshore substations on Kriegers Flak. The Danish company also won a contract for EnBW’s Hohe See and Albatros offshore wind project in Germany last year.
