Taiwan’s CPC Corporation signed a heads of agreement with the Houston-based Cheniere for the delivery of 2 million tons of LNG per year.

CPC pointed out in its statement, the agreement would strengthen CPC’s cooperation with Cheniere with regards to its development of LNG liquefaction and export projects in North America.

The deal, if finalized, will have a term of 25 years, and is seen as a step towards strengthening the trade relationship between US and Taiwan.

CPC said it will continue negotiations with Cheniere towards an LNG sales and purchase agreement over the coming period.
