The offshore engineering consultancy Intecsea, part of Worley Parsons Group, has been contracted by ConocoPhillips to provide subsea front-end engineering design (FEED) services for the Barossa development.
The scope of the subsea work at the Barossa development located offshore North Australia, approximately 300km north-northwest of Darwin, includes the FEED engineering for infield rigid flowline system and gas export pipeline between Barossa and the existing Bayu Undan pipeline.
Intecsea noted in its statement that the scope of work awarded also includes associated dynamic risers and umbilicals, flowline and pipeline end termination structures and subsea tie-in spools.
The Barossa offshore project remains the leading candidate for Darwin LNG backfill, with no alternative projects in the FEED phase, a project partner, Santos said earlier in a separate statement.
The Barossa development concept includes a floating production storage and offloading facility (FPSO), six subsea production wells to be drilled in the initial phase, subsea production system, supporting in-field subsea infrastructure and a gas pipeline to Darwin, all located in Australian Commonwealth waters.
The Barossa joint venturers are ConocoPhillips (operator, 37.5 percent), SK E&S (37.5 percent) and Santos (25.0 percent).
