Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL) has awarded a contract to Granada Material Handling (GMH) to ensure all 84 davit crane units installed on the project are commissioned in accordance with current legislation and Granada’s original equipment supplier requirements.
Mark Sidwell , director of Granada Material Handling, added: “Securing this contract has been a real team effort by the Granada Renewable product and service division. The BOWL contract is not only great news for Granada but also for our UK based supply chain.”
The Manchester-based company won contracts with all three Beatrice jacket foundations suppliers in 2016.
For each of the total of 84 foundations, GMH supplied one Python crane. Each crane unit measures approximately 4 meters in height, 7.5 meters in radius, and weighs 2,000kg.
Under the commissioning contract with BOWL, Granada will ensure its technicians are on site off shore for the period of nine months, since it is anticipated the wind farm will be completed within this period.
The 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm is currently in turbine installation phase , with inter-array cabling works and commissioning of turbines and offshore transformer modules (OTMs) ongoing.
