The San Mateo County Sea Level Rise Solutions Workshops, supported by representatives from local, state, and federal government, nonprofits, and businesses, are set to take place on September 19 in Redwood City, and September 20 in Burlingame, CA.

The purpose of the meetings is to discuss and envision approaches for future sea level rise solutions in specific geographic areas along the County’s Bayshore.

After the release of the Sea Level Rise Vulnerability Assessment and under the directive from the County Board of Supervisors to continue to assist the county and cities prepare for the impacts of sea level rise, Sea Change SMC is embarking on a number of efforts to develop local climate preparedness tools and strategies, in partnership with cities and other stakeholders.

One of these efforts is in partnership with Stanford’s Natural Capital Project and the San Francisco Estuary Institute to identify feasibility of nature-based adaptation strategies along the Bayshore and develop approaches for future shoreline protection and management for specific geographic areas, known as Operational Landscape Units (OLUs).
