Offshore marine and engineering consultancy Aqualis Offshore has completed its position keeping role for the Egina FPSO which is now moored in Nigerian waters.
Aqualis said on Tuesday that the team of position keeping masters on board the FPSO first oversaw the installation of the four first mooring lines, which took the FPSO to storm safe condition.
The team then continued their role for the installation of four further mooring lines. In total, the Egina FPSO is now spread moored on 16 mooring lines (4×4).
The company delivered the position keeping work as a subcontractor to EPCIC contractor for the FPSO, Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).
It is worth mentioning that Aqualis Offshore was awarded the position keeping role for the installation of the Egina FPSO back in early August .
When operational, Egina, the largest FPSO in Total’s fleet, will be producing 200,000 barrels per day, increasing Nigeria’s daily production by 10 percent..
Phil Lenox , director of Asia Pacific for Aqualis Offshore, said: “The entire position keeping job and installation of the first eight mooring lines was completed safely and on schedule.”
The FPSO is 330 meters long, with 61 meters across and 34 meters high, with a storage capacity of 2.3 million barrels of oil. The FPSO will be moored at the Total-operated Egina oil field, located some 130 kilometers off the coast of Nigeria at water depths of more than 1,500 meters.
When operational, Egina, the largest FPSO in Total’s fleet, will be producing 200,000 barrels per day, increasing Nigeria’s daily production by 10 percent.
