Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has awarded the first local supply contracts for Ørsted’s Formosa 1 Phase 2 and wpd’s Yunlin offshore wind projects in Taiwan.
The turbine supplier selected Swancor to provide resin used in blades for the 120MW Formosa 1 Phase 2 project as a result of an already established collaboration.

We’re furthermore looking forward to expanding our collaboration with Swancor in making Taiwan an offshore wind center in Asia-Pacific,” said Andreas Nauen , Siemens Gamesa’s Offshore CEO.
The second contract was awarded to the newly-formed partnership between CS Wind and Chin Fong for the supply of localized towers for wpd’s 640MW Yunlin project.
According to Siemens Gamesa, the partnership will initially manufacture and supply towers for upcoming Taiwanese projects under local content requirements. The two companies will use Chin Fong’s existing facilities at Taichung Harbor to deliver the towers at the beginning of 2021.

As reported earlier this year, Siemens Gamesa will supply 20 SWT-6.0-154 turbines for Formosa 1 Phase 2, with installation scheduled to start in 2019.
The company recently signed a preferred supplier agreement to provide 80 units of the SG 8.0-167 DD turbines for Yunlin, slated for installation at the beginning of 2020.
