Two tidal energy schemes have been shortlisted to receive a prize for ‘outstanding project’ at this year’s edition of Scottish Green Energy Awards.
Showcasing the very best in renewable energy, the Scottish Green Energy Awards honor the people, organizations and communities going above and beyond to shape the industry’s future.
Running for this year’s outstanding project award are Scotrenewables Tidal Power’s SR 2000 tidal energy turbine – which was trialed at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), achieving record-breaking results in tidal power generation – as well as Nova Innovation for the for Enabling Future Arrays in Tidal (EnFAIT) project that recently received green light from the European Commission to proceed to the next phase of the project and extend the Bluemull Sound tidal array to six turbines.
Scotrenewables’ 2MW tidal power turbine – SR 2000 – is also nominated in the Best Innovation category at the awards that will be held in Edinburgh on December 6, 2018.
Marine energy expertise has also been honored with the nomination of Microsoft for the Carbon Reduction Award, for its renewable energy-powered datacenter , installed at EMEC in Orkney, as part of Project Natick .
Orkney-based offshore renewables supply chain company Leask Marine has also been recognized with the nomination for the Outstanding Service Award.
