$7.8 Million Boost for Myrtle Beach Nourishment

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co. LLC, Oak Brook, Illinois, was awarded an approx. $7.8 million modification to contract W912HP-18-C-0006 to increase cubic yards of beach fill work that will be performed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The previous contract, awarded to GLDD back in June 2018, included $34.8 million for placing approximately 1.4 million cubic yards of material on Myrtle, North Myrtle, Garden City and Surfside Beaches.

Overall, the project calls for the nourishment of approximately eight miles of Myrtle Beach, four miles of Surfside and Garden City Beaches and two miles of North Myrtle Beach.

According to the Department of Defense, the Myrtle Beach work has an estimated completion date of June 17, 2019.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston, South Carolina, is the contracting activity.
