French LNG containment specialist GTT has received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for a tank design on a new 174,000-cubic meter LNG carrier.

GTT said on Tuesday that the order from Samsung Heavy was made on behalf of a European shipowner.

According to the containment specialist, the delivery of the ship is planned during the first half of 2021.

The company added that its Mark III Flex membrane containment system was selected for the design of the tanks.

GTT also stated that the name of the shipowner was confidential at this stage. Financial or any other details regarding the deal were left undisclosed.
