GTT ventures into digital services

French liquefied natural gas containment systems specialist GTT devised a program for the creation of a Digital Hub of Excellence in Singapore.

French liquefied natural gas containment systems specialist GTT devised a program for the creation of a Digital Hub of Excellence in Singapore.

The hub will be run by GTT’s local units Ascenz Solutions and GTT South East Asia, GTT said in its statement.

“The shipping industry is increasingly opening up to new uses and services driven by digitalization. In this context, the GTT Digital Hub aims to help shipping players reduce the costs, mitigate the risks, improve the operational efficiency, implement the compliance & sustainability programs and encourage data-driven collaboration,” the company’s statement reads.

Speaking of the hub, Linda Sein , executive director, investment facilitation, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), said, “GTT’s plan to set up its Digital Hub of Excellence is in line with Singapore’s Marine & Offshore Engineering (M&OE) Industry Transformation Map (ITM) to improve productivity and capture long term growth opportunities with the use of digital technologies.”

GTT chairman and CEO Philippe Berterottière added that this is an new phase for the company, as the hub is set to accelerate GTT’s digital transformation.

“In addition to LNG as fuel, a market in which GTT intends to grow, the digital services will enable us to explore new paths and deliver differentiating value to new segments within the shipping industry,” Berterottière.
