Dutch company Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) has received its technology qualification certificate from DNV GL for its QUAD lift method.

HMC said on Tuesday that the DNV GL certificate recognized that the company was able to accurately prepare and safely execute a QUAD Lift with a technology readiness level 6 on a scale of 7.

QUAD lifting is a lifting maneuver which uses cranes from two large semi-submersible crane vessels to lift a heavy-load simultaneously.

“The successful performance of the QUAD lift test using Balder and Thialf in October last year in the Gulf of Mexico not only showed the world for the first time that we are capable to deliver a safe QUAD lift operation, it also enabled us to achieve this important milestone,” Heerema said.

The company added that the QUAD lifting installation services enabled clients to integrally install and remove large and heavy integrated topsides or jackets.
